Hi, first off this is my first review, so please bare with me as I get used to it. Today, I will be recapping all the action that occurred on Raw on 9/6/10.
We open up the show with Nexus standing in the middle of the ring, there is a lot of heat from the audience on Nexus so proving the even though the group has cooled off, they are still interesting. All the Nexus members talk. I actually like Michael Tarver on the mic, his in ring skills need work, but he is really good on the mic, they should let him talk a lot more. They talk about destroying Undertaker and how they beat Sheamus, Cena, and Orton last week. Slater and Gabriel talk about how great they are. I should add that both of these guys shouldn't talk on the mic, they both tend to stutter a lot and it is something they both need to work on. Barret also claims how at Night of Champions Nexus will reclaim the WWE Championship. Interesting thought since Nexus never had the WWE Championship. Orton interrupts Nexus. Barret wants Orton to head down the until we get interrupted by the mystery GM. The mystery GM says that Gabriel will go against Cena tonight, and Barret will go against Orton, and Nexus is banned from ringside. On a side note, I am getting a little tired of the mysterious GM, it was fine for a few weeks, but I think it has come to the point where they should just announce who the GM is.
We are getting ready for our first match of the with Chris Jericho well once again the GM send another email. The GM says since Jericho and Edge walked out of the main event last week, that there spots in the six pack challange at NOC will be taken away if they lose. I find this spot hilarious since Jericho starts yelling at Michael Cole and demands Cole to tell him who the GM is. Anyway, back to the match.
Match #1: Jericho vs John Morrison
This was a great match, they gave this match a decent amount of time, plus you cant go wrong when either Jericho or Morrison to deliver a good match. During the match, Jericho is still yelling at Cole about the GM. Morrison wins the match with starship pain. With the lose, Jericho is no longer in the six pack challenge. Jericho still continues to show why he is one of the best performers in professional wrestling. Not only is he going all heel out on Cole and the mysterious GM, but he starts to act like a puppy who is lost and looking for his owner when he just relize that he just lost his chance to win the WWE Championship. I really hope Jericho renews his contract soon, he still has a lot to offer.
Match #2: Melina vs Alicia Fox
This was a short match, but still not a short enough of a match for Fox to still botch up a spot or two. Melina pins Fox cleanly in this match. To go off on a tangent for a bit, but I want to know what the WWE sees in Alicia Fox. She cut a heel promo at Melina before the match started, and the audience is completely dead for her promo. Her in ring ability is terrible and she continues to do a bad job selling moves and taking a bump. At one point, she screwed up so bad it almost looked like Melina was wrestling a woman who was drunk and high. WWE should do the fans a favor and take Fox out of the ring before she injuries herself and others.
Backstage with the Miz and Josh Matthews, Michael Cole gets all excited like a giddy school girl. I know it sounds weird, but I actually like Cole when he is playing the heel, why cant they just make him a heel full time?
Another backstage segment with Edge and Zack Ryder. Pretty decent comedy segment, but was all thanks to Edge, Ryder looked completely lost throughout this segment, like he didn't belong. I guess WWE jobbers are also brain damaged
Yet ANOTHER backstage segment with Ted DiBiase and Maryse. Really a bad segment, it really made no sense and added nothing to the show. Here is your Big Lipped Alligator moment for the show (Nostalgia Critic is awesome)
Match #3: Justin Gabriel vs John Cena
This match was actually pretty good. Was expecting for Gabriel to job to Cena, but Gabriel really held his own in the match. The match ends with Cena hitting the Attitude Adjustment on Gabriel off the top rope.
To go off on yet another tangent with the new movie coming out for Cena. John Cena is teaching someone how to wrestle? Isn't that like Brett Farve teaching you how to play hockey? Sorry, I just couldn't resist such a easy joke.
We come back to the ring and it is the Miz talking about how everyone told him he didnt belong in the WWE and how he worked and climbed to prove the naysayers wrong. Pretty good promo by the Miz. Daniel Bryan finally comes out and basically challenges the Miz to a United States title match at NOC, Miz accepts. Miz gets ready to cheap shot Bryan but Bryan saw it coming. He locks on his modified cross-face on the Miz until Alex Riley attacks Bryan. Bryan still gets the advantage by chasing off the Miz and locking on cross-face on Riley. Really an awesome segment by all parties involved. Cole and King do very well on commentary during this whole segment, plus it makes Bryan look very strong going into the PPV, which he should since he is one of the best wrestlers in the world.
Match #4: Edge vs Great Khali
Edge was expecting Ryder, but instead got Khali, Edge won the first match via count out until we get interrupeted by the anamous GM for the 3,781 time. The match gets restarted but now it is a over the top rope match. This was a sloppy match because as Cole brought up, Khali technically eliminates himself by walking over the top rope twice. Anyway, Edge wins this match.
Match#5: Wade Barret vs Randy Orton
Before the match started Sheamus, Edge, and Cena were on commentary. Sheamus and Edge argue at each other while Cena is saying how impressed he is with Barret in the match. Barret did look very good in this match, thus adding more to his stalk that he does belong in the main event. Darren Young came out and distracted Barret allowing Orton to hit the RKO on Barret for the win. Orton proceeds to RKO Young, Sheamus, and Edge. The show ends with Orton and Cena doing a stare down, as it is announced that it will be Orton vs Cena next week on Raw.
Overall Impressions:
This was a pretty well put together show. The matches were very enjoyable and the promos by Barret and Miz really make this a Raw worth watching. Definitely better than last weeks show. WWE did a great job building up to the NOC PPV, so overall this is a show that wrestling fans should definitely check out, I think you will enjoy it. There was some good comedy by Cole, Jericho, and Edge that really makes this a fun show. I am the WrestlingNerd and I will see you guys next time.
